Adams Fire District Annual Election 

 
The Fire District Annual Election will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the District’s Fire Station located at 3 Columbia Street, Adams MA 01220. Voting will start at 10:00 am and end at 6:00 pm.  
 
The following offices are open:
 
1 Prudential Committee Member for THREE years.
1 Prudential Committee Member for TWO years (remainder of term ending 2028)
1 Chief Engineer for THREE years.
1 First Assistant Engineer for THREE years.
1 Second Assistant Engineer for THREE years.
1 Third Assistant Engineer for THREE years.
1 Fourth Assistant Engineer for THREE years.
 
The following question to appear on the ballot:
 
Shall the position of elected Clerk and Treasurer become an appointed Clerk and Treasurer, effective on or after July 1, 2026?
 
By voting YES, the Adams Fire District Bylaws must be amended at the next District Meeting to remove the provision which requires the Clerk and Treasurer shall be elected by the voters, and instead shall be appointed by the Prudential Committee for a 3-year term, thereby ensuring a qualified individual be chosen for the position. The current Clerk and Treasurer will hold the office until their term expires or the office is vacated.
 
By voting NO, the Adams Fire District Bylaws shall remain the same and the position of the Clerk and Treasurer shall be elected by the District voters for a 3-year term. The only qualification for an elected official is the individual must be a legal voter residing within the District.
 

Adams Fire District Annual Meeting

The Fire District Annual Meeting will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 6 PM at the District’s Fire Station located at 3 Columbia Street, Adams MA 01220.
